Apr 28 - May 07   The Language Archive
will present the award winning play, The Language Archive by Julia Cho, to the Hudson Valley for the first time. It was first produced by the Roundabout Theatre Company in New York City in 2010 and has since enjoyed critical success at regional theatres and on college campuses.

“It's a truly beautiful play that looks at heartbreak and love through many different lenses without ever feeling like it is about love. The play examines love as much as it does sadness and independence and pursuing dreams.” – New York Times

Directing for Theatre on the Road, Anika Krempl has an ensemble cast that features Bernadette Pikul, Frank Marquette, Willow Alder, Alan Lipper and Sarah Rude-Hale.

Anika Krempl explains, “the lead, George, is obsessed with ‘dying worlds’, while unaware his own world is collapsing around him. He’s losing his chance to preserve another language when its last two speakers refuse to talk to each other. At home he doesn’t know what to say to his wife and he doesn’t recognize the feelings his lab assistant has for him. The Language Archive is about the preservation of love through language and it speaks to all of us.”
